Find Yourself First, Then Watch Who Shows Up | Rose Lambert

One person can quietly become everything: best friend, travel partner, confidant, the whole of a social life. It's rarely a decision anyone makes on purpose. It happens a little at a time, until one relationship is carrying weight it was never built to hold. A divorce, a move, an empty nest. And someone looks up to find her whole social world has shrunk down to one person.

Rose Lambert has been married twice. Twenty-four years the first time, twelve the second. Today she's single by choice, and she told me she has more friends now than she's ever had in her life. Rose is a professional matchmaker who works with some of the wealthiest clients in the world, and she didn't come to that work in a straight line. She came to it after losing a close friend to suicide, during what she calls the loneliness epidemic, and after a spiritual awakening that changed how she saw both of her marriages.

We didn't agree on everything... you'll hear that when you listen to the episode. Where we agree is that you have to make your own decisions, outside of social pressures, and one person can't be your be all end all. We also agree about the importance of female friendships and how true wealth doesn't come from "having it all".

Rose also talked about numerology and Vedic astrology, not as fortune telling, but as a way to understand your own wiring before you try to build a life with someone else. Know yourself first, she says, and you'll recognize who actually fits, in friendship or in love.

If you've let one relationship carry the weight of your whole social life, let this be your nudge to go build more of it. Call the friend you've been meaning to call. Join something. Say yes to the trip with the girls. You don't need one perfect person to meet every need you have. You need people, plural, and you get to go build that on purpose.

If you want a low pressure way to start, come hang out with us in Sipper Club, our monthly craft cocktail membership where a group of genuinely wonderful women show up once a month to connect over something as simple as a good drink. It's a small step, but small steps are how we build a life full of people who actually show up. Cheers to real wealth, my friend! 🥂
