It’s Never Too Late to Reinvent Yourself with Diane Farber
Apr 23, 2026
There’s something powerful about sitting across from a woman who has lived a full life — and is still becoming.
I'm so grateful to call this vibrant, amazing woman my friend!
Diane Farber is in her 80s. She’s built multiple careers. She’s moved across the country. She’s deeply involved in her community. And perhaps most importantly, she’s still curious, still learning, still evolving.
And as I learn more of her story, I kept coming back to one simple truth:
You are not stuck.
Reinvention Doesn’t Require Permission
Diane didn’t follow a straight path. She started as a social worker, raising children and navigating a difficult divorce. At a time when many women might have felt limited by their circumstances, she made a bold decision—she changed careers in her 40s.
With no formal background in finance, she stepped into a completely new industry. She studied, she learned, she built a business from the ground up.
It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t instant. But it was possible.
And that’s the part I want you to hear:
Reinvention isn’t reserved for a certain age, income level, or personality type. It’s available to any woman willing to take the next step.
Fear Comes Along for the Ride
One of my favorite moments in our conversation was when Diane said, very simply, “I’ve been afraid.”
Not “I wasn’t scared.”
Not “I had it all figured out.”
She was afraid, and she moved forward anyway.
That’s the difference.
So many women think confidence comes first. That you’ll feel ready before you begin. But what Diane shows us is that courage is built in motion.
You don’t wait until fear disappears. You decide it’s not in charge.
The Conversation Women Avoid (But Shouldn’t)
We also talked about something that doesn’t get enough airtime: money.
Diane spent decades helping people grow and protect their wealth. And what she saw, over and over again, was this:
Women outsourcing their financial understanding.
Trusting someone else. Avoiding the details. Hoping it will all work out.
And while trust is important, knowledge is power.
Because life happens. Partners pass away. Circumstances change. And when that moment comes, you deserve to feel informed... not overwhelmed.
This isn’t about becoming a financial expert overnight.
It’s about being engaged enough to understand your own life.
You’re Not Too Late
Diane didn’t just reinvent herself once. She’s done it multiple times.
She moved to a new state in her 80s. She built new friendships. She became involved in art, in her temple, in her community.
She continues to ask, “What interests me now?”
That question alone is powerful.
Because so many women stop asking it.
They assume the window has closed. That the time for change has passed. That what they’ve built so far is all there is.
But Diane is living proof that there is always another chapter.
What If You Started Now?
Not next year.
Not when things calm down.
Not when you feel more ready.
What if you started now?
Not with a massive leap—but with a small, intentional step toward something that lights you up.
Because reinvention isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about remembering who you’ve always been—and finally giving her a seat at the table.
