Starting Over at 50: Building Freedom with Belinda Sandor

There’s a moment so many women hit in midlife where they quietly ask themselves:

Is this it?

Not in a dramatic, everything-is-falling-apart kind of way.
More like a gentle nudge… a whisper that says, there might be something more.

For Belinda Sandor, that moment came at 50, during a season that could have easily broken her.

She was navigating divorce, financial stress, and the reality of becoming a single mom. And after years in the workforce, she found herself in a position she never expected: struggling to get hired.

That could have been the end of the story.

Instead, it became the beginning.

When “No” Becomes Redirection

Belinda didn’t set out to build a business.

In fact, like so many women, she was simply trying to find stability. But when traditional opportunities weren’t lining up, she started asking a different question:

What if I created something of my own?

That question changed everything.

She began offering administrative support to small business owners. Before “virtual assistant” was even a widely recognized role. One client turned into another, and slowly, something started to build.

Not overnight. Not perfectly.

But steadily.

The Power of Small, Consistent Steps

One of the most refreshing parts of Belinda’s story is how simple it actually is.

She didn’t have a massive audience.
She didn’t rely on complicated strategies.

She focused on:

  • Letting people know what she did
  • Showing up consistently
  • Offering real support to real people

And over time, that consistency created momentum.

It’s a powerful reminder that you don’t need to have everything figured out to begin... you just need to start.

The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything

If there’s one theme woven throughout this conversation, it’s mindset.

Not in a fluffy, “just think positive” kind of way... but in the real, honest work of noticing your thoughts and choosing better ones.

Belinda shared something that feels especially important for women in this season of life:

The voice in your head doesn’t go away. But you can change your relationship with it.

Instead of trying to silence it, she learned to recognize it… soften it… and choose a better-feeling thought.

That shift alone can open doors that once felt completely closed.

You Don’t Have to Be Someone Else to Be Visible

One of the biggest blocks women face (especially in business) is visibility.

We tell ourselves:

  • What will people think?
  • Who am I to do this?
  • I don’t want to share my whole life online

Belinda and I offer a more grounded perspective:

You don’t have to be vulnerable in ways that feel uncomfortable.
You don’t have to share everything.

Visibility can simply be about service.

It’s about showing up and saying: Here’s how I can help.

That’s it.

Building a Life, Not Just a Business

Today, at 65, Belinda’s life looks completely different than it did at 50.

She has a business she loves.
She works with people she enjoys.
She has the flexibility to care for her family, spend time outside, and design her days with intention.

And maybe most importantly... she’s still creating.

Because reinvention isn’t a one-time event.

It’s something we get to choose again and again.

It’s Not Too Late (It Never Was)

If you take one thing from this conversation, let it be this:

You are not behind.
You are not too old.
And you are definitely not out of time.

You’re allowed to want more.

You’re allowed to change direction.

And you’re absolutely capable of building something beautiful—starting exactly where you are.

If you're nodding, but unsure where to start... I'd love to support you in your journey. Book a complimentary connection call here
