Visibility Is Service: Sharing Your Story with Priya Dua
Jul 02, 2026
Have you ever started a social media post, sharing information about something you're really proud of? Then deleted half of it (or didn't share it at all) because it felt a little like you were bragging?
One of the things Priya Dua and I talked about during this week's podcast is how uncomfortable so many women feel when it's time to talk about what they've accomplished.
Priya's expertise is in public relations, but we agreed that this really isn't a PR problem. It's a mindset problem.
We don't want to feel like we're bragging or tooting our own horn. We don't want people to think we're making everything about us. So we soften our language, leave things off our bio, or skip posting about a client success because it feels a little too self-promotional.
I've seen this with so many women over the years, and honestly, I've caught myself doing it too. We have no problem celebrating someone else's accomplishments. In fact, we're usually the first ones cheering another woman on. But when it's our turn to talk about the difference we're making, somehow that feels different.
The truth is, I don't think sharing what you do is about getting attention. I think it's about making a greater impact. If we're genuinely here to help people, then they need to know what we do and how we support others. We can't create positive change if people don't know we exist.
That's one of the reasons I enjoyed talking with Priya so much. We come at this from different directions, but we landed in exactly the same place. She helps businesses tell their stories through public relations. I help women build businesses rooted in service instead of sales pressure. Different industries, same belief: visibility isn't about ego. It's about making it easier for the people you're meant to serve to find you.
So let me leave you with one question.
Have you been hiding your business...or simply being humble?
There is a difference.
This week, I'd encourage you to think about one story you've been hesitant to tell. Maybe it's a client success, a lesson you've learned, or even why you started your business in the first place.
Instead of asking yourself, "Will people think I'm bragging?" try asking a different question.
"Could sharing this help someone?"
If the answer is yes, maybe that's all the permission you need.
